Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in education management. However, its potential effects on educational inequalities have been little analyzed. This article identifies some of the main opportunities and risks related to educational inequalities associated with the use of AI in education management. Through an exhaustive literature review, the study analyzed the use of AI in relation to both the gaps between governments in terms of access and capacities to responsibly leverage this technology, as well as the values and operational dynamics of these tools that may work against the most vulnerable students. The findings reveal that, although AI in management can help reduce educational gaps, existing inequalities between governments and the internal logic of this technology may reverse that potential, further deepening educational inequalities. Education managers must place equity as a central pillar in the use of AI.
