Critical perspectives on algorithmic Governmentality

This article explores the intersections between the contemporary digital world, neoliberalism, and algorithmic governmentality in a context of increasing internet usage. Through exploratory and qualitative research, it was highlighted how the development of digital technologies and the internet occurred to meet political and military objectives, with massive state investments. Moreover, stemming from the convergence of cybernetics and the internet, transitioning from disciplinary to control societies, the concept of "algorithmic governmentality" was discussed as the operationalization of power through algorithms, altering the environment to change behaviors. It was pointed out that neoliberal technology, as discussed by Foucault as an "art of government," was significantly enhanced through algorithm use, expanding its capacity to affect all domains of life by ordering space and environment.
