Resumo

A trajetória do campo de estudos sobre a influência dos grupos de interesse na política se inicia no século XX, tendo se concentrado, sobretudo, no contexto norte-americano. Este artigo objetiva reconstituir esse percurso, principalmente a partir da análise de artigos publicados em periódicos de Ciência Política de alto impacto, elencando os principais desafios enfrentados, bem como caminhos para superá-los. Os resultados indicam que a ausência de coesão teórica continua a impactar o desenvolvimento do campo, marcado pela não cumulatividade das pesquisas. Ainda assim, importantes contribuições recentes produzidas nos Estados Unidos, em países europeus e na União Europeia têm dotado o campo de maior densidade teórica. Todavia, os estudos sobre o tema na América Latina ainda são escassos. Dessa forma, verifica-se ampla possibilidade de expansão dos estudos na região, incorporando reflexões teóricas mais densas importadas de outras áreas.
